Training - Biomedical Waste Management Training provided to Health Care Administrators, Environmental Health Professionals and Solid Waste Managers

Training - CEHI, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, Family Affairs and Gender Relations of St Lucia, the Caribbean Development Bank, Pan American Health Organisation, Health Caribbean and Centre Hospitalier Universitaire de Quebec, hosted a training course in Environmental Health Impact Assessment (EHIA).

The course was part of a planning exercise geared toward the development of a comprehensive, region-wide EHIA programme.

It was designed to develop the skills of health and planning officers and private consultants in the preparation and review of environmental health impact assessments related to both public and private sector projects.

Sanitary Survey - Conducted a sanitary survey of the water supply system in Anguilla

Water Quality Testing - Assessed private water supply companies, including bottlers and truckers; assessed capabilities of water quality laboratories and policies for water quality improvement; made recommendations for solid waste management improvements

Water Quality Testing - Supply of equipment for water quality testing through ENCORE Project. Equipment was supplied to beneficiary agencies in OECS countries in order to reinforce their water testing capabilities. Equipment was supplied to Anguilla Water Laboratory, Ministry of Health, Anguilla

Water Quality Testing - The Scientist/Coordinator and Laboratory/Filed Technician visited and provided in-house training individuals in Anguilla in the use of equipment supplied for water quality testing. The visit was also used to provide advice as to the direction Anguilla should take with regards to the further development of laboratory testing facilities.

Training - Between January an February, a water technologist, from the Primary Health Care Department, Ministry of Health, Anguilla was trained in routine monitoring and analysis of coastal water, potable water and wastewater through a one-month attachment programme at CEHI.

Waste Management - The Institute trained an Environmental Health Officer in the "Operation and Maintenance of Waste Water Treatment Plants". The Institute also discussed collaborating with the British Development Division to review the solid waste management needs of Anguilla and also looking at groundwater pollution risks.
