Call for Papers

The Fifth Biennial Caribbean Environmental Forum and Exhibition (CEF-5), the Second Caribbean Sustainable Energy Forum and the 15th Annual Wider Caribbean Waste Management Conference (ReCaribe) are inviting abstracts for oral presentations for the conference to be held, June 21st to 25th 2010, Montego Bay, Jamaica.

This year's theme “ Coping with Copenhagen : Water, Waste, Energy, Health…." emphasizes actions and strategies to address key Caribbean environmental issues, against the backdrop of climate change.

Papers for CEF-5 are invited on the following Topics:

• Integrated Water Resources and Coastal Areas Management (e.g. drought mitigation, drinking and recreational water quality, rainwater harvesting, legislative and financing mechanisms, policy development, aquatic ecology, watershed management and coastal zone management)
• Climate Variability and Change

Abstracts

Deadline: Abstracts are to be submitted on or before April 12th, 2010

Abstract format:

• Length: Abstracts must be no more than 500 words
• Size: Letter size (8.5" x 11") paper
• Margins: Should be set at 2.54 cm (1 inch), top, bottom and sides.
• Fonts: Times New Roman: 12 point
• Digital format: Microsoft Word or compatible format
• Language: English
• Topic: Please place the Conference Topic selected from the list provided, above the title
• Title: Type abstract title on a line with formatting as it would appear in the final paper

List author(s): Presenting author first (underline) followed by affiliation (name, organization, address and email). Additional authors including affiliations should then follow.

Body of abstract:

• Type body without any indents or tabs
• Double space between paragraphs
• Apply bold, italics, underlining, superscripts and subscripts, as you want it to appear in your final abstract

Submission of Abstracts: All abstracts are to be submitted electronically to cefpapers@cehi.org.lc.
Acknowledgement of receipt: All abstracts will be acknowledged electronically. If you have not received an acknowledgement within 72 hours of submission, please contact the CEF-5 Technical Committee at cefpapers@cehi.org.lc.
Notification of Abstract Acceptance: Authors of accepted abstracts will be notified via e-mail by April 23rd , 2010. Accepted abstracts will be published on the CEF website.

Papers

Authors of accepted abstract papers will be required to submit the finalized paper no later than May 21st, 2010 to allow for final review and acceptance. Paper acceptance notices will be sent out by June 4th, 2010. If accepted, conference papers will be published in the CEF-5 Technical Papers CD. Papers will NOT be included in the Conference CD if submitted after May 21st, 2010 . A complimentary Conference CD will be included in registration packages. Additional CD's will be available from the Conference Secretariat.

Please note that acceptance of a paper for presentation does not signify that funding will be made available form the organizers to attend the event. The author will be responsible for his/her arrangements to attend the event.

• Language: English
• Topic: Please place the Conference Topic selected from the list provided, above the title
• Title: type paper title on a line with formatting as it would appear in the final publication
• Body of Paper: Type body without any indents or tabs. There should be a double space between paragraphs. Apply bold, italics, underlining, superscripts and subscripts in the main text as needed
• Length of paper: No more than ten (10) pages
• List author(s): Presenting author first (underline) followed by affiliation (name), organization, address and email). Additional authors including affiliations should then follow

Digital format: All text must be either in Microsoft Word or compatible format. Pictures, Diagrams and Charts should in JPEG or GIF format. These must be inserted into the body of the paper and appropriately captioned. The total size of the paper should not exceed 5mb. Please compress images and files as needed.

Acknowledgement of receipt of Paper: All papers submitted will be acknowledged electronically. If you have not received an acknowledgement within 72 hours of submission, please contact the CEF-5 Technical Committee at cefpapers@cehi.org.lc.
Presentation of Papers: Each accepted paper is expected to be presented orally using a 20-minute format, followed by a 10 minute question and answer period, time permitting. Multimedia projectors will be available for presentations. Electronic presentations must be submitted to the Conference Secretariat by no later than June 14th 2010.
