The main objective of this project is to strengthen the capacity of the health sector to mitigate and respond to environmental issues related to floods following hurricanes or torrential rains and to improve disaster response.

It is envisaged that this will be achieved through:

• Institutional strengthening of environmental health units in the respective Ministries of Health and the development of human resources through training.

CEHI and the Pan American Health Organization, have agreed to work together to achieve these goals.
