CEHI is equipped with a full service analytical laboratory providing drinking and recreational water analysis, industrial and sewage effluent testing, heavy metal testing and pesticide residue analysis. Our target matrices include:

The Institute can provide specialist services through instrumentation such as a state-of-the-art, Atomic Absorption Spectrometer, namely, the Varian SpectrAA 220FS with a flame and graphite furnace. This instrument is used in the detection, identification and quantification of heavy metals in a variety of media including water, plant and animal tissues and sediment.

CEHI's laboratory is also equipped with a High Performance Liquid Chromatograph (HPLC), HP1100 used in the determination of pesticide types and levels in food and water. The HPLC is equipped with a post column derivatization module, diode array and fluorescence detectors. Other instrumentation includes the Gas Chromatograph (GC), HP 5890 II, which is equipped with Electron Capture and Flame Photometric detectors.
