Training - CEHI, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, Family Affairs and Gender Relations of St Lucia, the Caribbean Development Bank, Pan American Health Organisation, Health Caribbean and Centre Hospitalier Universitaire de Quebec, hosted a training course in Environmental Health Impact Assessment (EHIA).
The course was part of a planning exercise geared toward the development of a comprehensive, region-wide EHIA programme.
It was designed to develop the skills of health and planning officers and private consultants in the preparation and review of environmental health impact assessments related to both public and private sector projects.

Waste Management - A mission which included the Sanitary Engineer and the GTZ Long Term Adviser was carried out in 1994 in an effort to identify the priority environmental health concerns in the Turks and Caicos Islands. Among the major concerns identified was the disposal site in South Caicos. The potential of using this island as a demonstration site for small-scale solid waste disposal (sanitary landfill) was discussed and the Government indicated its interest in proceeding with the demonstration. Work had however not started yet by the end of the year.
