Introduction
|
- Welcome
to this new on-line clearing facility on workers' health in the
Caribbean.
-
- The function of this site is to provide
information and knowledge regarding the status of Workers'
Health in the Caribbean Community's (CARICOM)
member states.
- This
project was mandated by the Caribbean
in Cooperation Health Phase II (CCH-II). In
1979, the CARICOM ministers responsible for Health approved the
Caribbean Environmental Health Strategy in an attempt to address
the environmental health hazards that threatened the
population in the Caribbean region. A key element for the
strategy was the establishment of the Caribbean Environmental
Health Institute (CEHI).
- With the development of
Caribbean in Cooperation Health Phase II (CCH-II), CEHI was
given the overall responsibility for coordinating the regional
initiatives for the priority area of Environmental Health. One
of the objectives for the sub-priority area, Workers' Health, was to establish an on-line
clearing house facility on Occupational Health and Safety (OHS)
